The purpose of prophesy is to edify you that is to build you up, it doesn't mean to make you feel good. Prophecy is also to exhort you, that is to call you closer and urge you on in what He has purposed for you. And finally prophecy is to comfort you, that is encourage you, instruct you and sometimes initiate you into something new. Prophecy may reveal to you something you did not know or confirm and or add to something the Lord has already revealed to you. Prophecy causes us to see what God is saying, it directs, propels and encourages us in what God has purposed. The body of Christs stays dormant without the prophetic word. 2 Chronicles 20:20 says:
"Trust in the Eternal One, your True God, not in your own abilities, and you will be supported. Put your trust in His words that you heard through the prophets, and we will succeed." The Voice To know the Lord is to know His voice. Prophesy should lead you into knowing what God is saying now and stir you up you in hearing His voice for yourself. |
